Using technology to present our ideas in different ways.

We typed information about our exciting activity setting fire to our cardboard houses in the playground to recreate the Great Fire of London.
Then we changed the font, colour and size by highlighting our text and clicking on the correct buttons on the tool bar.

I think you'll agree our writing looks much more exciting now!!

Organising and presenting our ideas using technology

Today, in class Thistle, we have been continuing to learn how to organise our ideas in different ways. We've been continuing to enhance our typing skills by playing touch typing games to improve our speed and accuracy using the home keys.
Then we applied these skills to continue to write about families week. But first we had to open our work.

Once we had done this we selected lines within our text to change the appearance.

Then we saved our documents so that we can edit them next week!

Use technology to present our ideas

This week has been families week in school and, in class Thistle, we decided to write about it using a word processor. To begin with we practised our typing, learning where to place our hands and to find and use the home keys.

After this, we used the keyboard to add, delete and space text for others to read.
As you can see, we were still trying to type with 2 hands using our thumb to space the words.
Finally, we learned to re-name and save our work so that we can find it next week.
Chance said that even though he found it hard he is going to practise saving at home so that he can get better!
Try typing, saving and finding your own work at home.

Because we are all fireworks ...

This week in class Thistle, we are learning all about Guy Fawkes and the gunpowder plot. So far we have:
- watched and written a description of a firework display;
- discovered that King James I persecuted Catholics and put ourselves in their shoes;
- written a biography of Guy Fawkes' life and
- warned Lord Minteagle of the impending danger.
After all that we needed a break so we listened to and created a shape dance to Katy Perry's Firework.
Have a watch and let us know what you think...
