Inserting a picture to writing

This week in Bramble we did some writing about Chinese New Year. We had fun doing a dragon dance in P.E. so we decided to write some information about it. After that we added pictures of dragons from clip art or the Internet and moved them around our pages to go with our writing.

We are learning to be safe on the internet.IT'S INTERNET SAFETY DAY! We've read a wonderful book about being safe on the Internet and watched a video to tell us all about SID. The we did some work about our favourite things we like to do on the Internet like watching videos to help us draw and playing games. We would like the Internet to be a safer place to watch videos and play games because there could be some scary videos. If we are scared we could find an adult to help us. 

 We thought about our perfect online world for the future. If we could get the Internet to do anything we would like to use the Internet to send and print the poor food and money.

How wonderful that would be!

If I were to go on holiday to Antartica, what would I need?

This week in Thistle class, we have been learning all about the continent of Antartica. 

To begin with we discovered that nobody permanently lives on the continent - it is just too cold but people do go there for short breaks and to research. To find out more, we wrote letters to the researchers.

After this, we researched the life of the explorer Captain Scott and his travels across the continent. 

Once we had learned all about his travels, we used this knowledge to answer the question: If I were to go on holiday to Antartica, what would I need? 

We used Microsoft Word to write our recommendations and inserted images from clip art and the Internet. We also learned to check where the photo comes from to make sure that it was ok to use it!

Orangising and presenting our ideas

As part of our English lessons, we have been reading The Lonely Beast by Chris Judge. We started by looking at the picture below and imagining what it would be like to be one of the people who saw the beast! 

Once we had finished, we decided to present our ideas for display using technology. We inserted a speech bubble before typing and editing our writing. We changed the font and size of our writing!

Adding a picture to writing

Today in Bramble we typed out some information about Antarctica. Then we added a picture by using clip art and learned how to change the size and position of our picture on the page.
