Shark Attack! Maths rounding.

In Maths, we have been learning how to round to the nearest ten and how this can help us estimate answers for addition and subtraction.

The children used a rhyme, which focuses on the ones digit, to help them: 

1,2,3,4 round down to the ten before
5,6,7,8,9 round up to the next ten on the number line.

Each child was given a number card.  They then had to decide whether they needed to round their number up or down and then find the island with their multiple of ten in order to avoid being caught by the shark (the teachers).
